Privacy Policy

The short version
You can use ClickCoupons without an account and without giving us your name. The only personal information we ask for is an email address, and only if you tick the box to join our newsletter. We never sell your information. Links to stores on this site are affiliate links: we may earn a commission when you buy through them, at no extra cost to you.
Who we are and who is responsible
ClickCoupons (clickcoupons.ca) publishes coupon codes and deals for stores that ship to Canada and the United States. The site is run by one person, Williams Martins, who is also the privacy officer accountable for the information described here. You can reach him at hello@clickcoupons.ca. This page is written in plain English for shoppers; it is not legal advice.
What we collect and why
There is no sign-up, no profile and no login on this site. Three things are collected, and nothing else:
- Your email address, only if you tick the consent box on the newsletter form or the exit popup. We use it to send you the newsletter. Nothing else.
- Coupon click counts. When you click a coupon or a deal, we add 1 to a counter for that listing and 1 to the total for the day. Those counters are plain numbers. Your IP address, your location and your identity are not stored with them, so a count can never be traced back to you.
- Traffic and usage analytics gathered by the tools named in the next section: pages viewed, referring site, device type, approximate region, and how the page was scrolled and clicked.
We use your IP address in one place only: to count requests per minute and stop bots from flooding the newsletter form and the click counter. That count lives in the server’s memory, is never written to a database, and disappears within a minute.
Who else receives it
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising. These providers process data on our behalf, and some of them store it outside Canada, including in the United States, where foreign courts and authorities may be able to access it under local law:
- Brevo — holds the newsletter list and sends the emails. It receives your email address and your consent record.
- Vercel — hosts the site and provides Vercel Analytics, which measures page views without cookies and without building a profile of you.
- Microsoft Clarity — records heatmaps and session replays of how pages are used, so we can see where the layout confuses people. It is active on every page of this site today. Clarity masks text input by default; we never use it to read anything you type.
- Upstash or Vercel KV — stores the click counters described above. It receives a coupon name and a number, never anything about you.
- Affiliate networks such as CJ, Awin, Amazon Associates and Admitad. When you click through to a store, the network sees the visit and sets its own tracking so the store knows the sale came from us. We do not send them your name, your email or any list of who clicked what. What happens after you land on the store is covered by that store’s privacy policy and that network’s, not by this one.
Cookies and what is stored in your browser
ClickCoupons itself sets no advertising cookies. Three small values are saved in your browser’s local storage, and they stay on your device:
- Your light or dark theme choice, so the site opens the way you left it.
- A marker that the email popup has already been shown, so you never see it twice.
- A marker for each coupon you have clicked, so the same person is counted once per coupon instead of ten times.
Microsoft Clarity and the affiliate networks set their own cookies when their scripts load. You can clear all of this at any time by deleting site data in your browser settings, and you can block cookies outright — the coupons and codes will still work.
The newsletter: consent and unsubscribing
We only add an address to the list when someone ticks an unchecked box asking for our emails. The box is never pre-ticked, and the server refuses the sign-up if the consent flag is missing. That is express consent under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
Every email we send identifies ClickCoupons as the sender, gives our mailing address, and carries a one-click unsubscribe link. We honour an unsubscribe within 10 business days, and in practice it takes effect as soon as Brevo processes it. You can also write to hello@clickcoupons.ca and ask to be removed.
How long we keep it
Your email address stays on the newsletter list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. When you do, it is removed from Brevo, apart from the minimum record needed to prove we stopped emailing you. Click counters are aggregated numbers that are not tied to you; the daily site total expires automatically after about 90 days. Analytics data is kept according to the retention rules of Vercel and Microsoft Clarity.
Your rights, and how to use them
Under PIPEDA, and under Quebec’s Law 25 if you live there, you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and withdraw your consent to the newsletter at any time. Email hello@clickcoupons.ca from the address in question and we will answer within 30 days. Because the only personal information we hold is a newsletter address, most requests come down to a one-line answer or a deletion.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec if you are in Quebec. Note that this site is published in English only and is not aimed at Quebec residents.
How the information is protected
The site is served over HTTPS. The newsletter key is held on the server and never reaches your browser. The admin area is closed to the public. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep the amount of information we hold as small as possible — that is the strongest protection available to a site this size.
Children
ClickCoupons is meant for adults who shop online. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If a child has signed up for the newsletter, write to hello@clickcoupons.ca and we will delete the address.
Affiliate links
Links to stores on this site are affiliate links. If you buy after clicking one, the store may pay us a commission, and you pay exactly the same price you would have paid otherwise. Commission never decides which coupons are listed or how they are ranked — a code is published because it worked in the cart when it was tested, and it is removed when it stops working.
Changes to this policy
When we change how information is handled, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant — a new provider, a new kind of data — we will say so here in plain words rather than quietly editing a sentence.
